I got a really good look see at an 85 Scirocco today with the shrouded
injector system intact. The hose runs from the port on the head ( between
the #3-4 cylinders) to the.......um. I don't know the name of it but I
will describe as best as I can.
Its a round diaphragm (this car does not have this, its just a series of
line connections without the big diaphragm part on it.) looking thing
which has a vacuum line comming off of it. (It runs usually to the
distributor but can also run to the intake manifold brake booster line.)
It has another big port that runs to the charcoal canister. The third big
port plugs into the boot that is directly mounted onto the throttle body.

So it basically taps into the intake system BEFORE the TB and AFTER the
fuel distributor.

Got it?
