I diagrammed the tubing in my '84 GI prior to disassemble. I will make up a
BMP file and zip it to you. 

The tube from the back of the head was connected to the tubing that connected,
at least in part, the ERG valve, and the accordion rubber right before the
throttle. It is very funky trying to decipher what to use.

Last night I switched the small 1.7 Fuel Dist. to the larger GTI one, bolted
every thing up ( in the Rain & Hail ) and tried to test drive. Car didn't hold
idle, barely ran unless I had the pedal all the way down.

Off I go to listen to the game on radio while I diag. this new revoltin
development. It's a drag not having a garage to work in.
