"Syncro" is now a moniker for anything that's not 2WD, according the

It's an interesting introduction to 4WD/AWD systems and covers some of the
differences between various VW and Audi systems.  The impatient may want
to skip ahead to part 9, "4WD/AWD vehicles today".
