If you look at GG's MK2 prototype (which sits in the Karmann Museum),  I
can't see how you could possibly think it's similar to an Impulse.

I think this rumour was started or perpetuated by a poorly researched EC
article some years ago.

And for those who didn't know, Giugiaro designed what was SUPPOSED to be
the
mk2, but VW rejected the design.. and it became the dreaded Isuzu
Impulse!!
At least that's how the legend goes.. somebody correct me if this ain't
true!
