Brake line replacement- Urgent!

I'm in the process of replacing my brake lines and ran into some confusion.
When I removed one of the front lines, the fitting came out of the caliper
with it. It actually doesn't look like the line and fitting are seperate
pieces, what's the deal? I have it sitting in mineral spirits now so I'll
be able to take a better look in a while. My replacement lines do not have
an integrated fitting, so I figger the fitting just unthreaded from the
caliper (but why would it not be an integrated part of the caliper?).
Whatever. I need to know if I need new lines or how do I get the fitting
out of the old line. Would appreciate any quick responses- I have to drive
it tomorrow!
