RE: Switch to synthetic at 160k?



Synthetic oils do have a lower coefficient of friction than do
conventional oils.  Any engine builder will tell you not to put
synthetic in for a few thousand miles because there isn't enough
friction to break things in (rings and bearings won't seat properly).  I
don't know how much difference that extra lubricity makes in the real
world of engine operation tho.  Nobody ever seems to be willing to
publish definitive test results one way or another.  But there is a
difference.  Whether or not it matters is another story.

In what issue is that test?  I seem to have missed it and would like to
check it out.
