That's where you are mistaken.   GM, Ford, and almost all of the 
asian manufactures used carburetors w/ O2 sensors for years.  As far 
as VW is concerned, they didn't use them together, but they CAN go 
together.

Carburetors and O2 Sensors don't go together.
