Right. I use a 12.6"(320mm vs 350?) Momo wheel - makes for increased
effort, you can't see the gauges, eh, it generally sucks _except_ for
driving - less hand movement = more steering input. I like it a lot, sorta
feels as though I am driving a gokart, but I'll live. I bought it due
largely to my size - I fill up the driver's area of my Rabbit pretty well,
and the damned steering wheel got in the way, so I put the smaller one in.
I like it, but I think the "normal" Momo size is a bit more realistic for
street driving. If I could figure out how to get my seat lower, I'd be
happier(lower while still sitting upright, that is). I hate lying down in
a car, hence, I drive a Rabbit, they sit more upright IME. Kevin's car is
comfortable to me, although I'd like a more vertical backrest.
Wheels/seating are largely preference, although most people I have met who
are just starting out in autocross sit too far away from the wheel - arms
stretched out, seatback angled back too much, etc. Hard to get the
leverage needed to truly drive fast like that. It works in formula cars
mainly due to the fact that you only have to turn the wheel a few inches,
unlike a sedan. I always get a kick out of some of the better women
autocrossers(more so than men, for one reason or another) who sit ON the
wheel, basically. Seatback upright, wheel right there, heh, its funny.
Hmmm, maybe I'll go futz with my seat now. Someday I'll get it right,
after the Pro, I had armatitis, when the base of your biceps hurt and you
walk around whining about your arms hurting.....
I.Mannix(it sucked, I could barely open my garage door! ooowww,
autocrossing is dangerous.....;)
