That's because the 5 cylinder engines came in Quattros during those years (the
only years of production for a 4000 Quattro). Interestingly enough, 5 cylinder
engines also came in earlier editions of the 4000. They were 2-door, 5-speed,
front wheel drive, and they were called 5+5's. They were the only 5-cylinder
front wheel drive 4000's.
