Finally found!

Congratulations!

The problem with the seat (seams to be common to the 16V seats) is
probably the release cables that run from the handle on the side of the
seat down to the little "hooks" that release the seat back when the
handle is lifted.

There was several "how to" posts about this several months ago - was it
archived?

I'll look on my PC . . . .

Thanks to everyone who helped me finding a mint 16v Scirocco. I had all
but given up when I came across a Mint 88 16v with 55,000 miles on it.
It
is silver with leather seats and has been babied for a long time. The
car
is just as clean as new with some mods. It has full euro lighting,
Tokica
5-way ajustable shocks, upper stress bar, stiffer sway bars than stock.
I must say I am one happy Scirocco owner. Now I have to break the
news to my 97 Jetta VR6.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the drivers side seat. Mine
will not tilt forward. I have not yet looked at this so if anyone has
any
ideas please let me know.
