Hey everyone, here's the next big SoCal event the CCA will be making a
showing
at:
I. The event will be titled the Open Track Grand Prix of Lake
Elsinore.
That's right, we have joined forces with Open Track. You may know them
for
their "Hot Lapping" events at Willow Springs and Buttonwillow. Open
Track
has
the experience and personnel to make this a first class event. The event
will
be updated at www.open-track.com later this week. Open-Track is having
an
event this coming Saturday, August 22. We urge you to take advantage of
this
invaluable resource to tune your driving skills. At every Open Track
Event
there are professional drivers available help tune your skills as a
driver.
Where else can you pay $100.00, be able to race your car on a road course
and
get professional driving instruction as well?
II. The event itself has expanded. Our original 6/10 of a mile street
course has now moved to a 1.5 mile street course around the Lake Elsinore
Diamond. We have also added a 1/4 mile drag race to the event.
III. The date for the event is November 7, 1998.
Again, for more information please bookmark the Open Track website, and
check-in for more updates. Since this event is a work in progress there
will
be many additions, including vendor updates, event sponsors, and there is
even
talk of this event being covered by ESPN2.
Thanks again for you interest and we will see you November 7. >>
Anyone have more questions, mail me!!!
Sorry I wasn't able to make it to the VW Jamboree in Costa Mesa today, I
missed my plane in Baltimore and was stuck on the east coast til today.
Hope
it was good, I know Phil got a bunch of Orange County C owners together
to
cruise up, and my little racing crew Munchen Rennsport was making a
strong
showing from San Diego...
Anywho, I got to visit Jeff Storey (CCA Club Historian) in Virginia,
saw
the new 1999 A4 GTi 20V Turbo at VW Sport, and got my Stage 3 chip
updated/checked-up at Autothority, so it was a productive trip. Thanks
for
showing me around, Jeff!!!
drive fast!
