Re: (Warning! Technical Post!) Auto to 5spd Conversion !!!!!!

Well, I've never done a VW, but I did convert a Sherpa Pick-up (British
vehicle) when I was stationed in England. Took a week. Except I converted
it from manual to automatic. It has been a while, but if I remember right,
the two things that were most tricky were getting the shifter mounted
properly (to look as if it was a factory installation) and changing out the
pedals. I also had to change out the plate to where the tranny mounted.
You shouldn't have that problem. It wasn't too bad. Just take your time
and do everything right the first time. It will save you some hassle in the
long run. Just make sure the tranny will work for that specific engine (is
strong enough).
