Yeah, I was planning on the pre-ispcetion, good call.
I dont know what they do now, but I was deemed a 'Gross-Polluter' 2 years
ago with the old smog. They didn't charge me anything, but they made me go
to a Licenced Smog Refferee, and I couldn't apply for an 'Economic HArdship
Extension' at all, just because of where I lived. I called the CARB and
asked about the extension, and they checked my zip code, and said "There is
no way you can have an Economic HArdship Extention, because you live in so
and so part of San Diego." What BULLSHIT!! I was pissed.
Anyways, the Smog Referee was all over my car when I took it in. All I had
was a K&N, but I still burned a little oil. But there were like 4 guys and
they wouldn't let me watch what they were doing. It looked to me like they
checked the engine code, and they took forever on the visual test.
BAstards. I passed however.
But it DOESN'T END THERE! Because I have been deemed to be a 'High
Emmiter Profile' car, this smog I am required to take my car to a
'Test-Only Station'. Sounds like a functional equivalent to a referee. I
hope I can pass.. Wish me luck.
Next year, they'll probably just come to my house one night wearing brown
shirts, break into my garage, and crush my car into a cube on the spot.
