The 16 V has a larger master cylinder and the proportioning unit is in
the master cylinder. The proportioning valves that most people sell are
to be used in conjunction with the original, non-proportioned master
cylinder in order to save money on the brake conversion. I have had
several friends do the conversion without changing the master cylinder or
adding a proportioning valve and only under extreme conditions, were they
able to get the rear discs to lock up.
