? Identifying the good stuff ?

    I am in the process of going through some old VW stuff
and sort out the items worth saving. I read and thoroughly
enjoyed the earlier thread regarding engine codes. I am
wondering now how to identify a G-grind cam, and a European
downpipe. What about the different head/bottom end combos?
Are there any that wouldn't work?(besides the obvious 16v)
