There's a common problem with the newer style switches that as they get old
and the seal can allow tranny fluid to leak into the switch. I pulled my
switch off the tranny, cleaned it and the plug from the wire harness and it
works just fine.
The other problem can be a simple aging of the wires comming out of the
plug, the wires get brittle right at the switch and break.
