RE: Low Voltage at Startup (Alternator ?)
Eerie how sometimes questions show up on this list just as you're poised to
ask them; this is exactly the thing on my mind of late.
Mine does the same thing, and yes, tapping the accelerator just over 1k rpms
turns the light off every time, but I'm not thrilled about blipping the
throttle so sonn after startup, before the oil gets everywhere. My previous
2 Sciroccos never did this, so I'm thinking this must be a correctable
condition.
Then again, maybe I should stop worrying, blip away, and get myself a life!

Actually, (barring a loose belt) this is pretty common. I had 3 VW's
exhibit the same symptoms, but it was never a problem. Upon starting
the car i'd give it a stab of gas and 'pump up the volts'

While we're talking about Alt's.....
I've noticed that the Voltage warning light stays on when I start my car.
It will stay on until I rev it up to about 2500rpm. I once killed my battery
by not revving up to "thunk" the volts up. I'm assuming It's either my Alt or
my Voltage reg. Anyone run into the same problem? I've noticed it happen on
my friend's 86 Rabbit too! If you did, what was the problem?
Thanks in advance...
