Maybe we should stay away from the A1 label, since that refers to the
chassis - not the body. I think most of us know that all Sciroccos are A1
(as well as all rabbits, pickups, cabriolets, and early jettas)

You know, I can't wait to bring my '82 to a meet and compare the bodies
to the '85 and ups - I never noticed a diff - then again I never paid
much attention . . .
