I had a similar problem. My tape player would sometimes seize and
when I eventually got the tape out, it was hotter than hell. I think my
problem was that I had a leak in the heater box and it directly pumped in
heat right to the bottom side of the stereo. I needed to replace this
rubber wrap doolie thingy that connected the heater box to the windshield
vents and I havent had any problems since. Check out your heating/venting
system and check to make sure it doesnt leak hot air right into the dash.
