     Three options:
     
     1.  VW has a repair kit for these 16v down pipes which is essentially 
     just the flex area which usually is where the problem is.  I think it 
     is like $80.00 but you need a shop to do it if I am not mistaken.
     
     2.  Call Techtonics at 503.843.2700.  They offer the entire 
     CAT/Downpipe assembley (the CAT is integrated BTW if you did not know) 
     in a 2.25" config which will also give you better performance.  
     $395.00.  This is what I will probably go with on mine when mine goes. 
      Stock is 2".
     
     3.  Contact Potterman, as my #1 option may not be 100% accurate, or he 
     can get dealer parts at a significant reduction.

Hello All!
     
     I am in need of your advice and help if at all possible.  I need a flex
pipe that goes between the cat and the manifiold.  The VW dealer wants 829.00 
bucks for the dang thing, and there has to be another way.  This is for a 
friend of mine who has a 88 Rocco 16v 1.8.  If there is anyway that any of 
you have or can find that part for a reasonable price than please let me 
know.  All of you were the first people I thought about when I heard of his 
problem.  I would hate to see another Rocco go to an early grave simply 
because of an exhaust pipe.  All responses are greatly appriciated.
