Woo hoo!
I finished installing an Audi 5000 Throttle body. All I can say is WOW! It
was a little tricky, and I had to spend 3 hours drilling out the original @$^!^
Throttle Body bolts, but I got there. I am going to put a big how-to on my
web page in the next couple of days, as you have to do some bits of weirdness
to the linkage to get it to work. Swapping parts with the old TB and stuff....
Porting the Manifold for the bigger Throat was a joy. I went through 10 bits
on the dremel, but now it's perfectly matched.
Has anyone done this conversion? I noticed a strange kind of sleeve in the
small throttle valve hole. I think it's a Venturi. Anyway, I notice a lot
more power, even at half-pedal, before the large valve opens. I've read about
Venturi's and they actually speed up airflow by narrowing the air passage
slightly, and opening up again gradually. I guess this speeds up the air
in the middle, and this faster air draws more air in behind it. Kind of
like a Velocity Stack. If I could get-make another Venturi for the larger
Throttle Valve, I bet there'd be some _serious_ airflow happening.
Just sending a message to say "neener neener neener" :) I have +- 10 more
horses in my car now.
