Scirocco no start

Hi guys, yet another scirocco problem.  The joys of owning a car must be
felt.  I still cannot get my car to start.  It starts up and then in a
matter of a second or two, it dies.  The battery is fine and the spark plugs
and wires are also fine.  This is really frustrating.  It seems as though
the fuel is not getting anywhere since when I start it and "give it gass",
the car makes n response.  What should I do?  Where do I start?  At any
rate, I'll just sit here and hope that the car will start.  I guess I should
mention that I just recently replaced the gas tank and as well, the timing
is completely off.  Thanks for any help.
