Removing 16v Injector

I think I've got a dud injector on my '86 16v Scirocco, which I'd like to
test using the water bottle technique someone else described previously.  I
just can't get the injector off, and my Bentley isn't very helpful here.  Is
there a special technique or do I need a special tool?
