I'm pretty sure the 2.0L came out in 90. My two best friends each have a
GTI 16V. One is an 89 with a 1.8 and skinny bumpers, and the other is a 90,
with the 2.0L and big bumpers. They are both very fun to drive, but not as
fun as my 16V rocco. The 2.0L has more bottom end "pull", well thats what
my butt tells me.
