Since the 16V cams are set together, then both the intake and exhaust

Ah. I see, the head being shaved will change the distance of the gear
location and therefore, make the belt a little longer than before. Hmm,
interesting. I have the head shaved .40 on my 8V. I have noticed the cam
tooth is off a bit when I put on the new belt and the marks are set
perfectly. I never thought it was because of the change in belt length. I
credited it to the new belt.
