STRANGE & SERIOUS PROBLEM!

I need help diagnosing a strange and serious problem with my '87 16v.

Here is the lowdown on what has happened.
Friday night on way to the club the oil light came on.  Of course I 
freaked out and immedietly shut the car off.  Since it was late the 
car spent the night in a bad part of town. 
Saturday morning I played it safe and gambeled it was just the prssure
sensor.  After alot of swearing I finally found a place that carried the 
right Oil pressure sensor and changed it.  It seemed ok on the way home
and on my way to work Saturday around noon.  When I got off work Sat. 
night I headed home. (Here is where the strange stuff starts).   The oil light
came on again.  This time when the oil light came on the battery & o2 Sensor 
light flashed on too.  They when out and the Oil light stayed on.  At the same
time the dash lights and raido lights got really bright.  This spell only
lasted 
about 5-10 seconds.  Convinced it was still getting oil I kept driving.  About
2 mins later it did it again.  Same deal.  (battery light, o2 sensor light,
dash/raido 
lights) and this time I noticed my headlights were bright as day.  And this
spell 
only lasted @ 5 seconds.  By this time I was at my GF's house.  The car sat
for 
about 2 hours and on the way to my house (another 5 miles) the car acted
normal.

Will somebody please explain to me what could cause this series of events.
And I hope it is something as simple as a place to kick the car to get it
to work 
right.  Because this comes the same week that I got a 700$ estimate on a
tranny
rebuild.
