converting seats

I am interrest in converting a car seat 
into an office or desk chair?  Has anyone ever done 
this before.  Any suggestions on doing this would be 
much appreicated. 
   The seat I might be using is a recaro type seat.  
One seat might be from a 78 scirocco with seat tilt 
and three mounting points on the bottom (that I saw), 
one in the center and two on the back corners.  The 
other seat option might be GTI or GLI seats.  I would 
like to use the tilt feature if at all possible?
   I was thinking about finding an old office chair 
on casters or wheels and use that base.  Also, I 
thinking about building a base out of wood or
using tubing.  Do I need the seat rails to do this 
conversion?   Are the options possibilties?
