That was a question I posed to a list member but received no answer (ahh
well). When you drill out your air box, my question is, does that make
your engine run lean/burn up your valves, etc.? A friend offered to
drill my airbox but I declined since I'm really not sure what the
benefits could be besides the noise. The K&N is specifically built to
let your car breathe more than it would when normally aspirated. Adding
in a "shadetree mechanic" factor of drilling the box for
horsepower(????) gains; what does this do to the engine in the long
run?

When you say that, do you mean you didn't hit the "brick wall" or that
your idle was higher than normal?

As far as I know, and I think a previous thread touched on this,
removing the cat and 02 sensor is only for racing cars, i.e., not street
legal? As for when you put these two items back on....why don't you
take measurements of your car's output now...and when all is
reinstalled, take another measurement and inform the group for future
reference. Nothing beats hands-on experience :)

Again, from the various mags I've read, a mandrel-bent pipe system
(equal diameter on all the bends for maximum flow) going into a free
flowing muffler is sufficient. Some folks take it a step higher with
those new-fangled ceramic downpipes (hmmmmm). Basically, bigger in the
exhaust department doesn't necessarily mean better torque. If the pipe
is too large, bottom end torque is said to suffer [guess those Honda
guys don't know that :)] Just makes more noise is all.

My suggestion to you Jason is to go to a reputable (ask around) muffler
shop and get the pipes custom bent to your specs. Go to any Pep Boys
and grab yourself a Borla or Dynomax FloMaster muffler for WAYYYY less
than Autotech and those other guys'll sell it to you for, and, BAMMM!,
you got yourself a damn good exhaust system without taking too big a hit
in your wallet.

It sux knobs when ya don't know nuthin. :(
