Just a general note - WD-40 is great to loosen sticky parts, and to slow
corrosion, but is pretty useless as a lubricant except on really delicate
stuff like speedometers. Vaseline is good until the temperature gets above
about 100 F - then it starts to evaporate. Try WHITE lithium grease, or
silicone grease
(expensive, but clean).
I used Vaseline on all my electrical connectors - it seals out moisture,
makes them easier to disconnect, and prevents corrosion - but you have to
redo it about once a year or so...does wonders on taillight bulbs...
