A1 Rear disc conversion question

I am in the process of removing the rear disk brakes from, I believe, an
A2 Jetta.  All thats left to remove is the stub axle, but there's a
"cup" that is covering the four bolts to the axle.  I looked in the
Bentley, but there is no such part for rear drum cars...I have no idea
how to remove it; it's pretty thin metal, so I don't want to start
prying and bending stuff...Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller...Bueller?
