questions

Hi,  can anyone explain the concept of stroking an engine?? Is it just
putting in longer piston rods and a different crank to get a longer stroke???

Also on that cooling system topic  1. car does not warm up . Just to 
first mark on guage. I replaced the thermostat ( faulty??) Top rad hose
hot , bottom cold ( not cool , cold) I can see the coolant circulate in 
the rad with the rad cap off.  A couple of times I just squeezed a few hoses
and boom the car heated up. (AIR??) The thermostat I used was colder than 
stock reccommended,( 180 deg vs 192)Weather has been from 0 degrees 
celcius to about -10 here lately (brr) should I try a hotter thermostat?
No coolant in the oil, new rad cap.... OK this is not a VW but I am really
stumped here, -10 with no heat  HELP!! If anyone needs more info I can email
you privately.
