If you are getting about 31 mpg mixed highway and city thats great,
leave your mixture alone. If thats just highway you are still in good shape
(thats what my 1.8l RD block w/ TT 268 cam gets highway.)
The way to check it is by getting a exhaust gas analyzer (read
expensive) and see what it reads. My 80 doesn't have a oxygen sensor so I
assume yours doesn't either, but if it does hooking up a voltage meter to
the oxy sensor will tell you mixture too. The specific values elude me
right now.
Does you car have the large fuel distrubutor plate?? Thats adds a
lot to the hp and last but not least have you taken out the orifice that
creates the vacuum for the egr valve ( if so equipped) that did wonders for
my 1.6 L when it was in the car.
