Well it finally happened, sometime this morning between 4 am and 7 am
someone stole my 95 checkered/bmw lighted GLX from my driveway. I went
to work at 4 and took my 84 Jetta DLX, and left the GLX so that I could
start cleaning it for the Autotech show when I got home from work. My
roommates didn't see the car when they went to work at 7, but didn't
notice that the 1984 Jetta was gone also.
My girlfriend called me at work around 9 and asked which car I had taken
to work, I told her the old one, and she promptly ran downstairs to look
in the garage to see if my roommate had moved it into the garage. No
such luck.
I called the police and reported the car stolen at 9:07, and they called
my back around 9:15 to take down my information, and to notify me that
the car had been recovered and was missing the wheels.
I looked at the car this afternoon in the tow yard and put my stock
wheels on it. They had somehow taken out the lock cylinder from both the
drivers door and the ignition. They cut the steering wheel to get rid of
the club, and I didn't have long enough notice to activate the Lojack, so
I'm still not sure if it works. They stole my CD changer, shift knob,
momo arrows and NItto tires with only 3,000 miles on the tires, ABT grill
emblem, and in.pro. dash kit. The list of damages is much longer.
- They cut the steering wheel, and in the process put several gashes in
the dash.
- they left the car sitting on the rotors and bent up the backing plates
into a horrible shape.
- They used MY stock scissor jack to jack up MY car and steal MY wheels,
and in the process, bent the stock jack, stole my stock lug wrench and
screwdriver, ripped the seams underneath the car where they jacked the
car up and put gashes in both of my Rieger side skirts. The
Bastards!!!!!!!!!
- They threw something heavy into the rear seat and tore the seam on the
arm rest
- They Reiger air dam is heavily scratched and the front bumper is
slightly off the bumper support
- They stole the bottom piece of my grill, which included the pieces
used to fill in the corners of the fender that the BMW lights no longer
fill, and when they stole my center ABT emblem, they cracked the other
piece of my grill, which had been cut narrower to fit the longer BMW
headlights.
Now my insurance company tells me that it will take 3-5 days to have an
adjuster take a look at it. I figure with wheels and tires being around
$2000, I figure the total should be around $5000, and a couple of weeks.
So much for the Autotech show this year.
