Easiest fix Ive seen is to use mechanics wire to wire up the broken side.
One still works and you cant see the wire. If you want to do it real,
then go ahead and remove the seat. its pretty easy. You may need to
pull off the upolstry or you may be able to "fish for it". worst case is
you will need to replace the seat frame. I did cause mine broke off that
metal bar to the handle which need to be replaced. If you go this rout
the recaro typ and non recaro type seats are all the same frames, or a
dealer told me $30 new, pretty reasonable for a VW part.
