Re: '83 Paint Update
Speaking of paint, I just had my 87 repainted at... Maaco! Da da da dummm!
I was pretty worried before I did it because it seemed like the prices they
were charging (399 for 4 hours bodywork and repaint) weren't enought to
even buy just the paint! I had about five real rust spots and one largish
dent in the rear quarter panel. They charged me 50 bucks extra when it
turned out the rust on my driver door went all the way through and they had
to weld a metal plate to the door. I kept the same color cause I like it
(silver - they actually called it gold (!)). Anyway for $450 I got a
pretty great looking car - not perfect - but pretty great. There isn't any
of that orange pebbly feel or look to it etc. One quick note - my paint
was pretty good except for the rust spots - and since all they do is sand
down the old paint, not strip it, this is probobly why it came out so good.
It's been three weeks so far - I let you know at the end of the summer how
it went. sz
