Could be many things I guess but I fixed both my windows by taking
(breaking) apart the switch and sanding (i.e. scraping on the parking
lot) the contacts down. I didn't have any sand paper and the pavement
worked great.  That was 2 years ago and I've neve rhad a problem since. 
If they work ocasionally or you need to play with them alot to work I
would suspect the switch. Incidently the swithces are expensive so try
to clean it first.
