strange happenings

Hey all! I have acquired myself a new problem (he with the most
wins!). Yesterday I replaced the reverse switch in my car.
Unfortunately, now the reverse indicators stay on all the time. The
reverse lights are on if:

	The headlights are on.
The car is in reverse (engine running or no).
The headlights are off, but engine is on.

Some guy in a Mk1 Golf told me about it tonight, and just 5 minutes
later Mr. Police dude asked me to pull over to discuss this little
problem of mine. He was cool, tho.

Another strange thing I noticed is that if the car is in the reverse
gear when the car is off, a noticeable vibrating/humming comes from the
passenger side of the car, about 3/4 back. Initially I thought that my
fuel pump was busted, but when I took the car out of reverse, the noise
disappeared. Hmmm, what an odd combination, no?

I'm trying to picture what it is that could be awry, but I can't think
of anything...except that maybe the palooka that had the car before me
thought that it would be cool to have your reverse lights on all of the
time and thus made the modification for me to contend with.

Any suggestions as to how I may resolve this lil dilemma of mine would
be much appreciated. Thanks.
