As soon as the clubs doors swung open the dank moisture laden air clung
to his skin sheathing it. He slowly made his way across the packed
parking lot. Not stopping even to glance at the myriad of Hondas and
Nissans that screamed in silence with grotesquely large spoilers and
pavement scrapping Tupperware ground effects. One did catch his eye
however if only briefly, an 83 or so Civic with a wing so large if the
car was ever inverted it could provide enough lift to keep it there.
Jutting out the back like a fat man clencing a ciger between pouting
lips of plastic was a Supertrapp muffler so large it would give any
residental home owner heart palpatations. A cool breeze of a thought
went through his mind " what are these pepole thinkng?". But it was
quickly dismissed as he made his way twoards a half lit corner of the
lot. Out of the harsh ghastly yellow glare of the sodium vapor lamps to
his ride sat in the half light. Slowly a form took shape from the
surrounding inky darkness, a glitter here a shadowy reflection there it
seemed to be borne from the night itself. Briefly quad headlights shone
back the dim light and projection lamps seemed to flicker. No longer a
menage of reflected light the shape took form. A wedge of hood and
fenders coated in paint just blacker than the night materialized, then a
steeply raked windshield sandwiched by short doors resting on narrow
rocker panels. In a orchestral finish of german auto design long back
windows ended in a rearward slanted hatch wrapped in a modest albleit
functional spoiler. With a high pitched chirp actuaters forced locks
open and disarmed the alarm. Grill mounted emblems gave away only two
hints to as the beasts true purpose, Volkswagen and 16V. As if that was
not enough one only need challenge its authoriety to find that they had
been eaten up and spit out by a Scirocco...........(to be continued)
