    I also have a 95 GLX and the Neuspeed P-flo is a major seller for the
VR6 cars.  They claim that they are getting 5 more hp from the filter. 
The same debate, more hot air vs. less cold air has been going around on
the VR6 mail lists for some time now.  Most people feel that the mod is
worth it, although the gain in performance will be minimal at best. The
sound on the other hand on a VR6 is wickedly like the sound of a carbed
V-8.  A nice deep growl.  The 4 cyl. Scirocco's will also get some more
noise, but not as much as a VR6, less air need, which may give a
perceived increase in power.
       To sum it up, do it if you want, but don't expect to dominate the
world with this power gain :-)
