I know how you feel (kind of).  The trans was supposed to be done 
yesterday, but I didn't get it back till the end of the day today.  
So now they won't get to put it in until Monday and I'm not sure when 
I'll be able to pick it up.  At least I have a (sort of) car to 
drive......

Did he say where the smoke seemed to be coming from?  First thought 
is the often mentioned fuse box meltdown.  If so, that may not be all 
that bad.  That is, if it didn't take any other things with it.  Keep 
us informed.
