paint touch up

Heyza:

        My '81 has numerous small dings and paint chips.  What's the best
way to fill these in?  Do I need to dab in primer first?  Does that rust
avenger stuff work?  I think a lot of the chipped areas are semi-filled
with old car wax and some others are rusting.  I'm not trying to win
trophies at Pebble Beach; I just want to prevent rusting and to minimize
that "machinegunned" look.

        Where is the best place to get the touch up paint?  Pep Boys?
Dealer?  I'm pretty sure that the paint is original.  Is there a paint code
on the car somewhere?
