I find that electricals are cheaper (i think) and are MUCH easier to install.
I think that the mechanicals can be a bit more accurate, but I think that
the 5% quicker response of mechanical guages can only be useful to people
driving all out $50k racecars. In your car, if a problem erupts with, say,
oil pressure, it's not gonna drop from whatever number (60?) right down to
zero in half a second. It's gonna go down a lot, and sit there for a minute,
and then finish out. That's plenty of time for you to notice it and turn off
your car.
I think the simplicity of elec. guages outweighs the SLIGHT bit of response
time.
