Re: Painting steering wheel etc.

I am distressed that you would merely paint such an important piece of
your Scirocco. What has this world come to?

I know this story all so well
Seriously, I'm just looking to blacken the spokes for a
> minimum of cost. I'd love to get a nice, racy wheel (are the MOMO's really only $100?!) but the stock wheel is good enough for me. Actually the stock unit is pretty nice, even though it has a plastic, not leather rim (doesn't leather soak up sweat and body oils where they react to form gunge? yuck!)
I actually find this wheel to be a very important part of the car. It's
one of those things that helps define the car (sorta like the single
windshiel wiper on my 80 S, not sure if 81 is the same). I would not
replace the steering wheel but would like to modify it. Does anyone
know if it is possible to remove the ring, reduce the radius and replace
the ring with a more suitable shape (such as you find on Momo items)? I
know this maybe dreaming, but like I said, I don't really want to
purchase a different style wheel, but the functionality of the stock
could be enhanced. Any ideas?

I can't help you here.
Since most of you probably have Mk.2's, the Mk.1 steering wheel

Mine isnt for sale either.
