I have seen many Rabbits and Sciroccos that have lowered the seating
position, mostly IT cars. What they did was fabricate an alum. frame for
a flat-bottomed / flat sided seat. These are very "deep" buckets that are
14" to 18" wide, so build is important.

I am in the process (should have it completed within 1 week) of
installing a "race" seat in my Scirocco (got the 16" wide aluminum framed
seat from Racers' Wholesale , $129.99). The bottom of the seat is 1" off
the floor, position is almost erect (+5 degrees) and I have about 6" of
head room. I am 6'4" and this is in a Mk1 Rocco. I can just see over the
dash and can only see part of the hood. Feels pretty differentat first,
but I am hoping it will work for me at the races / AX.
