rough idle when heater on answers sought

Just a question:
Car: 85 scirocco
symptoms:
rough idle on start, stalls when heater is on, but not when heater off.
didn't do it before we did some work on it:
new exhaust, O2 sensor, Used ignition coil, changed Alt Belt, tune up
including oil filter plugs air filter dist cap and rotor.
