OK, listen up.  Here in PA, the speddo has to work to pass state 
inspection.  Tom Shearer of Shearer's Sales and Service replaced the 
gear in my 83 Rabbit GTI.  The parts are out there somewhere.  I 
would reccomend calling him at 610-682-2186.  He can probably ship 
the gear to you for cheap.
