'Squeallin' tires......

Hi folks.

I haven't been an active participant on the list since I parked my 
'rocco for the summer.  Now that the convertible is parked for the 
season, it's time to give the VW some TLC.

I took it for a ride last night and noticed a peculiar squealling 
under moderate, straightline braking.  The squealling was definately 
from the front tire(s).  I could only hear the left one.

The car doesn't pull, no shimmy in the steering wheel, so I didn't 
think I had an alignment problem.  Anybody wanna confirm that I need 
an alignment done?  Are there other possible problems that would 
cause tire squealling under moderate braking?
