Can't answer if the 1.6 head will fit on a 1.8 block, but I can say the
intake and exhaust ports are the same size.  I swapped my '78 1.6 long block
for a '84(s/a '83) 1.8 long block about 11 years ago and all the manifolds
and gaskets go right on, no problem.
