Hey

that little box has caused me night mares!!!    It is some sort of fuel
return.  The transfer pump actually pumps to this box.  It inturn feeds the
main pump.  The  fuel that is bleed off from the fuel disturo unit is routed
back to this unit with the over flow going to the tank.  

I found all this out the hard way.  One day while driving my car  it started
to run like crap then died.  If it sat overnight it would start only for a
minute or two.  I thought I has a bad fuel distribution unit.  I got another
-- it didn't help.  I did notice that i had pressure on my fuel return line.
 What had happened was the previous owner had removed this box and installed
a hastings fuel filter.  It had one line in and two going out.  It gutted
itself out and sent paper element crap throught my system.  $160  to get it
flushed. 

I would leave the box alone.
