Yes Kevin,
I retrofited the full throttle swithes to my previous 82 rocco, it is
pretty easy but you will need the swithes, wiring harnes, and Brain (O2
control unit), from a later model, I believe 84+ on the Scrioccos. You
just need the small section of the harness that has the large connector
plug for the Brain, you just have to pull yours out and put the newer one
in, it is pretty straight forward, you ought to be able to find all the
parts at a local used parts dealer that has some VW's they are parting
out. BTW, I did notice a small diference with the updated control unit and
throttle switches.
The switch/sensor you described sounds a lot like the freqency control
valve that allows the brain to adjust the fuel/air mixture by adjust the
fuel pressure, not all systems had them or used them, but if you switch to
the newer system, it will definelty use it, and you should notice a
difference.
